Summary
The 8th National Conference on Health Economy 2012 took place on July 4th and 5th, 2012 in Rostock. We welcomed the Republic of Austria as our partner country. Under the title "Experience health! Aspects of cross-sectoral cooperation“ we considered branches of industry that are already closely interwoven with the healthcare economy sector, but still offer economic and scientific potential. Topics, such as the integration of the creative economy into the health economy, holistic health concepts, contributions of the pharmaceutical industry to the development of the health economy and the potential of natural resources were discussed. The supporting program was highlighted by severeal items of the agenda. Besides the extensive industrial exhibition and the popular cooking performance, young talents and students took the chance to present their ideas and projects in terms of the different issues discussed in the forums of the conference. Various companies and institutions have been able to present their concept and opportunities to junior employees. This event opened up enormous prospects for both sides.
In Austria, cross-sector cooperation is also of interest in the area of the health economy. The ambassador Dr. Ralph Scheide emphasizes the great potential between Lower Austria and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in terms of common quality standards or benchmarks and joint projects. The participants of the conference took the opportunity to exchange ideas with other regions about new ways of working together and to find out about the locational advantages of Austria.
